This website was a gift from my husband, Vladimir Blagoveshchensky. He made it himself and gave it to me. For that I want to thank him publicly and openly. I thought for a long time about which section of the site would be the most appropriate place for my gratitude, and I realized that it belonged in the photography section.

I have many school photographs because Volodya always carried a camera at school.

My own encounter with photography began in my first year at the institute, where we had not only theory but all kinds of practical work, right up to a huge studio camera that you had to stick your head into, covering yourself with a photographic curtain.

Later I bought myself a point-and-shoot camera, first one and then another, but I only really acquired a taste for photography when I got an iPhone. I understand that this is amateurish, but how fascinating it is — at any moment, in any place.

Once I took a group of students to St. Petersburg. I cannot say that we managed to draw a lot, but we walked more than enough: we covered streets and lanes on foot and absorbed the spirit and impressions for a long time to come. I liked very much that the students photographed not only the landmarks, but also the purely Petersburg details:

a patch of exposed brickwork in a courtyard well, a dandelion growing out of a wall, a strangely curtained window, an old door, an antique handle.

I too like photographing brickwork, grass growing on a wall, an old door, and an antique handle.

In a word, like an akyn:
what I see is what I sing.
