Elite of the women’s community, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, member of the Union of Artists of Russia — this is far from a complete list of Elena Orlova’s official titles and distinctions. The work of such an artist deserves recognition at the regional level. On this day, that recognition came from the regional authorities in the form of an honorary certificate.

— For many years of fruitful activity, for her contribution to culture, and on the occasion of her wonderful anniversary.

Elena Orlova is also a talented teacher. Through her efforts, in 1990 the Children’s Art Gallery was opened, along with the only Museum of Children’s Creativity in Russia. Her students came to congratulate their teacher. For them, her lessons are more than lectures.

Natalya Popik, student at VSPU: “There is a very special atmosphere in her classes. In general, anyone who has not been there will not understand, however long one tries to explain. It is even more than painting; it is communication between a teacher and students, a kind of life experience — and not only that.”

The birthday celebrant calls herself an artist without ideology. She draws what she likes: flowers, people. She loves creating illustrations — by education she is a graphic artist. She gladly shares the secret of successful creative work.

— I have a deep conviction. When I teach students, I tell them: painting is love. Everything you love always works out. I love my students, I love my colleagues, I love flowers.

Elena Orlova’s works deserve to be appreciated in other cities as well. For that reason, her nearest plans include solo exhibitions in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
