The Volgograd Theatre for Young Audiences invites visitors to an unusual yet attractive exhibition. Here, two of Volgograd’s best-known and most beloved women artists will present their work: Elena Orlova and Valentina Kostochko.
The exhibition is dedicated to World Theatre Day and to the Year of Theatre taking place in Russia. Elena Orlova gave her section the meaningful title “Illusions.” The title is connected both with theatre in general and with life itself. Both one and the other, quite possibly, are merely illusions.
We also know our Master as a remarkable theatre artist. In particular, she created the scenography for the New Year production at the Theatre for Young Audiences, “How the Baba Yagas Saved the Fairy Tale,” which won the hearts of both adults and children. She is also the author of the costumes for the much-discussed production “Alyosha Karamazov.”
The unique ceramics of Valentina Kostochko are known and admired not only in Volgograd, but far beyond its borders. The artist called her section “In Praise of Color.” And there will indeed be much to admire.
The combination of two arts — so unlike one another, yet equally magnetic — creates a shining world one wants to enter, and produces a stunning sense of belonging to the highest manifestations of the human spirit.
The exhibition will open on March 30 at 16:20, before the performance of “The Government Inspector,” another production that has firmly won the public’s recognition.
